Cinematic Art

During the 1870s there were a lot of artists who experimented on sequential photography. This way, they can produce animated pictures. They used multiple cameras and the fastest shutter speed in recording images to create the motion picture. It was in the late 1800s when the first motion picture devices were introduced. One of the devices is the Kinetoscope of Thomas Edison, this can record sequences but it can’t feature projections. Another is the chronophotographic camera of William Friese-Greene, which can record ten photographs a second. This technology looked more like a stop motion animation. Most people were disappointed by the products that these technologies can provide, but these technologies evolved into the celluloid film.

The cinematograph was used for this screening and this was done by the Lumière brothers. The cinematograph was one of the first film cameras. It was later on called the ‘cinématographe’ by Léon Bouly in 1892.
